WHAT BEHIND VIEWS
2021, LONDON ︎
"<What Behind Views>" represents a compelling reimagining of Robert M. Pirsig's 1974 masterpiece, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." Pirsig's original narrative unfolds a transformative journey across the American continent, interwoven with contemplations on life's intrinsic values.
In our modern age, we possess the ability to virtually traverse every corner of the globe, often neglecting the profound messages concealed within these virtual vistas. It is precisely this oversight that led me to select "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" for this redesign project.
The book is divided into two distinct parts. The first part embarks on a physical odyssey, tracing a path from the eastern to the western reaches of America. By seamlessly integrating on-location imagery sourced from Google Earth with the author's vivid descriptions, this section breathes life into the written words, painting a tangible tableau of the journey.
Part two embarks on a metaphysical voyage, chronicling the relentless quest for truth, a concept aptly referred to as 'QUALITY' within the book's pages. Throughout the narrative, readers will find illuminating passages that delve into the intricate shifts of the mind, strategically placed at each juncture of the journey to offer invaluable insight and enhance comprehension.
